ABOUT
This video I was recorded in Salalah state because AL Bar’ah dance is a most popular dance there. It is located on the southern coast of the Sultanate of Oman. To be as reference for my Animation project. This state far away of my city more than 6 hours by car. We take a tripe with my family with the onset of autumn weather in first of June. The climate of Salalah in the autumn (monsoon rains) helped make the area rich with plants and wildlife, including species usually found in Africa such as leopards, hyenas, camels, and cows. As for banana and papaya plantations, they give the area a true tropical atmosphere, even though it is surrounded by desert. Due to its economic and administrative position, it was distinguished by the elements that made it an important region, such as its strategic location, and the various trees present in it, and supportive of its economy, as it is famous for cultivating tropical hookah trees specifically, which is a tree similar to the shape of coconuts and bananas.
The main reason to record this video to support my animation project and I back to it to see the exact movements. This person how was dance is one of the dancers that he has a good experience in AL Bar’ah. I was planning to record video in indoor studio, but I change it. because it loses that background of Salalah State. For that reason, I change my idea and I recoded in outdoor place in mountain in Salalah. I try to choose different angle to show a dance of all body movements. Also, with multiple frame sizes to focus on details of important part in body. According to, (Intangible Cultural Heritage,2010) “Al-Bar’ah is performed in a half circle formed by ten to thirty men and women. As they chant and clap, two male dancers holding khanjars (daggers) perform codified dance movements, brandishing their daggers above shoulder level. The dancers’ steps are uncomplicated, but coordination with other performers and the music requires considerable skill”.
Moreover, it’s explains how the dancer sits from the beginning, gradually when he stands and with his right hand moving. In addition, to the stability of his left hand in his belly on the dagger. He also focused on spinning, waving the dagger, and the man moving in detail on how to jump. I use adobe primer pro software to edit it and shots arrangement with slow motion. finally, add new song that related to AL Bar’ah it was presented to His Majesty Haitham bin Tariq.
